Pineapple Mojito
A Sweet Twist on the Classic Mojito
Pineapple mojitos are a sweet twist on the classic mojito. Crushed fresh pineapple or pineapple juice adds a tropical taste that’s perfect for an evening on the beach, watching the sun go down. A traditional version can be a little too sharp or citrussy for some tastes, so the addition of some pineapple juice is a great way to update this much-loved rum cocktail.
Which Rum Should You Choose?
A mojito is best made with a white rum such as our three-year-aged Havana Club 3. The ageing process gives it its pale yellow colour, and its notes of sugarcane, fruit, citrus, and oak shine through. It’s complex but not overpowering, making it ideal for light, fruity cocktails.
Add a Little Something Extra
There are plenty of ways to spice up simple mojitos made with pineapple. A shot of vanilla-flavoured liqueur pairs perfectly with the tangy fruit to make a more floral flavour. Some concentrated syrup can be added for extra depth. As well as pineapple juice or pulp, generous pieces of pineapple might create a special effect in a clear pitcher. All mojitos can also be blended with plenty of ice for a frozen treat that’s ideal on hot days.
Other Pineapple Rum Cocktails
White rum and pineapple are a great pairing, and there are plenty of other drinks that use them both together. Here are some:
• Bahama mama. This drink often calls for a darker rum like the Havana Club 7, for example, mixed with a coconut rum. Add orange juice, pineapple juice, grenadine, and plenty of ice. It can be arranged in layers so that the end result looks like a beautiful sunset.
• Pina Colada: A Cuban classic. White or spiced rum, pineapple, coconut and a touch of lime = one of the most popular rum cocktails to have ever been created!
• Pineapple Daiquiri: The addition of fresh pineapple juice to this iconic cocktail adds depth, sweetness and texture.
